Over the weekend I went along to the Round She Goes preloved fashion markets at Marrickville Town Hall. The word on the street is that organiser Emma Morris, a previous Publicity Manager and serious lover of Vintage decided to make her love full time, running Round She Goes fashion markets in Melbourne, Adelaide and in its newest location Sydney.
What makes Round She Goes interesting is that the fashion market is both a mix of established Vintage fashion stores, emerging fashion designers and individuals with great fashion sense who are looking to clean out their wardrobe.
It’s great to be able to shop from all these great vintage stores all in one location. Established Vintage stores have a great eye for funky pieces and have a greater range of sizes and assortment…but…its great to be able to go crazy on an individual’s store if you happen to fit the right size and love their style.
By the way, I think Marrickville was the perfect choice for the markets debut, it has a good balance of community spirit, cultural appreciation and of course, love of thrift. Although the market was nestled in a relatively cozy space nestled in the Marrickville Town Hall, I spent a decent amount of time oohing and aahing over the choices on offer.
The Crown St Project – Vintage, vintage, vintage. These guys have a great assortment of funky preloved vintage goods. Just look at these awesome belts, leather printed bags and shiny beanies. So lovely….
It was great to see some handmade jewellery makers strut their stuff. Daleris Fine Jewellery Designs makes some fine jewellery. I love these chunky sterling silver rings and necklaces.
Now this is getting into the spirit of Vintage! Doesn’t Miz Smitten Kitten look fab?
These fab handmade pieces are from Vintage Vixen. She has an awesome Rockabilly style with the attitude to match. Cherries and skulls on cute cardis and bows, how can you go wrong? It’s a little known fact that every woman looks amazing in a 50’s vintage inspired number.
The Secret Attic – Now this store has got some vintage style. Decked out with a gorgeous antique dresser mirror, The Secret Attic speak vintage.
I thought this belt was fabulous – don’t worry be sexy – hehe. I just love seeing these Lucite clutches. This one is from the 1950’s and I’m sure it’s worth every penny.
Miz Smitten Kitten has some super cute rockabilly inspired accessories. I love these cute porcelain-look necklace brooches. Cherries and bows for all!
Tranquality offers gorgeous pieces of handmade jewellery and accessories made from people in communities from all over the globe including South America and Asia. The pieces are very well made and basically I couldn’t stop gawking at them and how beautiful they were.
Round She Goes is hoping to release more Markets for 2013, so stay tuned for the next Sydney dates.
Love, Festival Girl.
