Vivid Sydney 2013 Review

Vivid_sydney_2013_6And so…it was a cold, rainy and windy night on Saturday night and it was also the night I arranged to meet some friends in the darling city of ours to take in the lights of Vivid Sydney. Now, you’d think that the rain be enough to stop the folks of Sydney from enjoying a night on the town, but, you’d be wrong. It was actually packed. Prepped with gumboots, rain coats and a big smile, people were ready to see the lights and be entertained with the wonderment of pretty lights.

First stop. Dinner. A stop off at the Lowenbrau has us wining and dining German style. It was so warm and cosy inside you forgot all about the icy cold winds and wet weather waiting to give you a slimy hug. I opted for the Pork Belly and my-oh-my was it tasty. Just thinking about that yummy, crispy cracking with bits of pork fat swimming amongst the creamy potatoes – oh mama.

Vivid_sydney_2013_1Customs House was all lit up with the sights of some projected video works by Danny Rose and we just happened to catch the special screening of the Doctor Who to celebrate the 50th anniversary. There is SooOOo much to see at Vivid Sydney but here are my favourite snaps that I managed to grab.

Vivid_sydney_2013_8Vivid_sydney_2013_9Vivid Sydney is one of my favourite Sydney outdoor events. With so many nooks and crannies to explore, not only does it show off our gorgeous city, it provides the opportunity to expose people to Art and artists to people. In my book, any event that can do that is doing something right. My only complaint? There’s just not enough time to explore and see it all.

Don’t forget, Vivid Sydney is still on until the 10th June, so check out the website for more details.
