Sydney Style Markets Review

I’ve been a little sick over the last week so apologies for the delay in getting this one up! So I went to the Sydney Style Markets at Leichhardt last weekend with a couple of friends. It was the exciting launch event for the Sydney Style Markets and was I surprised by the outcome. Not only did the weather decide to show off, I was quite impressed by the level of quality that the store holders offered and the appeal of the products to their ideal customers: women and mommys!

Although I’m not a mommy myself, I did find myself coo-ing and cah-ing over some super adorable knit-ware. I even bought an adorable beanie from Ju Ju Creations for my boyfriend’s one year old niece.

On sale for just $15, I thought it was a bargain!

Looking good Lil Cherubs

When in Rome…

Can you see those oh so hot right now tissue paper pom poms – amazing right. I mean these puffy delights are everywhere on the craftosphere. Don’t you even think of having a party without some kind of pom pom-age!

What is lovely about Mrs Pom Pom and her adorable pom pom wonderland is not only does she have an awesome colour range available for purchase, she can also cater to pretty much every colour in the rainbow.

I couldn’t help buying one of these embellished woolen half beanies for $25 from Erin Louise for one of my girlfriend’s upcoming birthday.

..and then I stumbled on this beautiful stall – Trove Designs… with so many beautiful pieces of bounty, I couldn’t help buying myself this perdy pair of aqua marine earrings.

I am so obsessed with this colour right now!

I heart this aqua treasure trove chest!

If you are bummed you missed out on this one, never fear the Sydney Style markets will be happening next month on the 16th of September. Sounds like a perfect spring day outing to me!

Mothers Day Craft Fair and Antique Valuations for Youth Off the Streets | Review

Wowee was I surprised by what I found when I came along to the Mother’s Day Craft Fair and Antique Valuations for Youth Off the Streets last week. So what’s the story again you wonder? The Craft Fair is organised by volunteers of Our Lady Queen of Peace (OLQP) parish in Greystanes will be holding its popular Pre-Mother’s Day Special on Saturday 5 May to raise funds for Father Chris Riley’s Youth off the Streets which aims to assist homeless and disadvantaged youth. The organiser emailed me a few weeks back about this craft fair and so I decided to come along.

Let me tell you I was tickled pink with what I found and I was so happy to see a number of great small businesses and talented crafting ladies put their works on display. I was really interested in seeing excellent level of skill and production quality. So brownie points for that!

I of course couldn’t resist buying a few things including a delicious Boysenberry and Port homemade jam ($7) and 3 for $10 homemade chocolates – as you can see, I have no pictures to show you, because shamefully, I devoured them both way too quickly.

I spotted the cute designs from Original Shuk Koncepts. She creates some funky printed fabric bags, badges and hair accessories.

How cute are these costume hat pieces? I just loved seeing all these super cute printed hair clips. I wanted one of each!

As I mentioned previously, this event is organised to have a side of antiques appreciation. For $5 per piece, you can get your piece evaluated by a professional.

Little Blue Shed is wonderful jewellery and accessories made from recycled paper. These beautiful coloured pieces are made by women in Uganda. They work in a Little Blue Shed in a place they call their workspace. These women learn new skills and sustain themselves and their families and avoid selling themselves to provide for basic essentials.

Dona Howard Designs creates some beautiful pieces of jewellery using natural stones and crystals. How gorgeous is this aquamarine necklace? Just delicious!

The designer of B ‘n’ Spired Designs 0412544682 creates her own pieces in every colour you can imagine. She uses semi precious stones, fresh water pearls and glass beads on wire.

If you want to come along to the next event, the next Craft Fair will be held on Saturday 24 November from 8am to 2pm.

I hope to see you there next time,
